UAB St. Vincent’s PET Center uses Syngo.via advanced imaging software to enhance the accuracy of our PET/CT studies. The platform supports cortical analysis for brain imaging, helping physicians evaluate patterns of brain activity, and provides quantitative analysis for PET scans to deliver precise, measurable data. These advanced tools help clinicians interpret results more confidently and support informed patient care and treatment planning.

Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)

UAB St. Vincent’s PET provides advanced imaging access through PACS and Nuance PowerShare, enabling referring providers to securely view patient images and reports in real time. Accessible through a secure web portal or mobile device, the system helps support faster and more efficient clinical decision-making. By eliminating the need for physical discs and allowing seamless cross-platform integration, PACS improves collaboration among healthcare teams. Providers can access studies through the PACS portal or request images via fax.

For assessment of abnormal glucose metabolism to assist in the evaluation of malignancy in patients with known or suspected abnormalities found by other scans.

Indicated for positron emission tomography (PET) of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) positive lesions in men with prostate cancer:

  • With suspected metastasis who are candidates for initial definitive therapy.
  • With suspected recurrence based on elevated serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level.
  • For selection of patients with metastatic prostate cancer, for whom lutetium Lu 177 vipivotide tetraxetan PSMA-directed therapy is indicated.

18-Fluoroestradiol (Cerianna)

Indicated for positron emission tomography (PET) of estrogen receptor (ER) positive lesions in patients with recurrent or metastatic breast cancer:

  • To assess ER status of lesions difficult to biopsy
  • To consider 2nd line endocrine therapy after metastatic disease progression
  • To consider endocrine therapy at the initial diagnosis of metastatic disease

Amyloid

Visualizes the β-amyloid neuritic plaque density in adult patients who have been diagnosed with mild with cognitive impairment or mild Alzheimer’s disease dementia. A centiloid score is provided with each scan through cortical analysis to quantify the β-amyloid neuritic plaque density.
